Freedom, is a concept we can take for granted in our world.  I just returned from the hearing with George and everytime I am with one of the men from Angola I am reminded of how much freedom we have.  However I am also reminded by these men that they have a freedom that noone can take away.  A freedom that we have as well, a freedom that is only found in Christ.

As I left George in his orange jumpsuit and shackles he was smiling.  Smiling because he knows that a judge does not hold his freedom and the shackles cannot restrain the Spirit of God that lives within him.  If a man is free in Christ, he is free indeed. Because of Him, Pastor.

It is good to be home.  I always enjoy my time away, and this time was especially refreshing.  On our time away we went to the ocean (or as they say in Maryland, "down-e-ocean").  It was not a hot day, or a cold day but a cool breeze was blowing in off of the water.  The ocean was thundering as waves crashed in.  It was really spectacular.

I love the ocean and large bodies of water where you can hear the water in the waves.  I am reminded of David's words in Psalm 29:3 where it says: The voice of the Lord is over the waters;
The God of glory thunders; The Lord is over many waters.

As I sat on the sand at Assateague Island and even on the boardwalk at Ocean City, MD I could hear God's voice in the roar of that water.  I told Tammy it is a strong voice, but it is a soothing voice as well.  I spent time talking to God and then listening to Him on the water.

I hope all of you do the same.  Take time and find a place to listen to God speak.  You will find as I did that strong but soothing voice.  That voice that is the "Thus saith the Lord" voice and also the "I will never leave you nor forsake you" voice.  And if you say I don't have time...find the time.  I cannot think of a voice more important to hear.

It has been a while since my last post but school had started, preparations were under way to go to Louisiana, but had to be postponed (until March 28) because of Hanna, and all of the fall programs are getting going, like AWANA.  So I guess here we don't fall gown, we fall up.  We gear up for some of the most exciting times of the year.  Fall is a great time, it is like a new start.  Vacations are over, school is starting and everyone says it's time to start focusing on life.

With fall this year we are gearing up for our assimilation programs.  We want to intentionally bring folks in and make them feel welcome and stay with us at FVBC.  It is an exciting time for our church.  Be praying that God would send in many guests.  Pray that God would use you to reach people with the Gospel.
